🏞 Journey to Issyk-Kul through Canyons and Mountain Passes

Our adventure begins in Bishkek, where we set off along the scenic Chu River road. The route winds through endless plains and the majestic foothills of the Tien Shan mountains. Within a couple of hours, we’ll reach our first stop — the breathtaking confluence of the Chu and Chon-Kemin rivers, perfect for stunning photos.

Next, we head to the Konorchek Canyons, a place that resembles the landscapes of the Grand Canyon. To reach them, we’ll hike along the dry bed of an ancient river. This easy trek will bring a sense of adventure as we explore red rock formations shaped by centuries of wind and time — otherworldly and unforgettable.

After the canyon exploration, we continue toward Kubaky Pass (2160 m), passing by the mirror-like waters of the Orto-Tokoy Reservoir. This part of the journey showcases the raw and powerful beauty of Kyrgyz nature.

The highlight of our route is the shore of Issyk-Kul, the pearl of Kyrgyzstan. We’ll stroll along its beach, breathe in the crisp mountain air, stop for panoramic views where the horizon melts into the lake, and soak in the freedom of the open landscapes.

On the way back to Bishkek, we’ll stop to enjoy traditional Kyrgyz cuisine — beshbarmak, kurut, boorsok, and tea with thyme. More than just a meal, it’s a cultural immersion and a chance to taste the soul of the country.
